Bank of America statement PDF to QuickBooks Online

You need a month of Bank of America transactions in QuickBooks Online, but all you have is the PDF statement. Maybe the bank feed missed a stretch, or it never went back far enough. QuickBooks Online can take a CSV through Upload from file, so PaperRows reads the PDF in your browser and writes that CSV for you.

Not yet tested in QuickBooks. The QuickBooks CSV follows Intuit's published upload instructions. Nobody on our team has run the import in a QuickBooks Online company yet. Until we have, try one small month first and check it before importing more.

Bank of America support is in beta. No real Bank of America statement has been through our full review yet, so we call it beta. We read it with the same checks as every other bank, and if a row is wrong, the refund rule covers it.

Convert your Bank of America statement. The preview is free, and the file never leaves your browser.

How to get it into QuickBooks Online

  1. Download the statement from bankofamerica.com. Sign in on a computer, click the checking account, open the Statements & Documents tab, choose the month and click Download. Keep the file as it arrived, not a printout or a scan. The Bank of America help page has the full steps.
  2. Drop the PDF into the converter. PaperRows reads it in your browser. The file is not uploaded.
  3. Look over the free preview. Every transaction, with the page and line it came from, and the checks against the totals on the statement. If PaperRows cannot read the file, it tells you why before you pay anything.
  4. Pay $5 and click Download QuickBooks CSV. One payment unlocks that statement. You also get a plain CSV with the page, line and balance columns.
  5. Upload it in QuickBooks Online. Under Bank transactions, choose Upload from file, pick the checking account, map Date, Description and a one column Amount, and pick the date format MM/dd/yyyy. The QuickBooks Online import guide walks through each screen.

What the QuickBooks CSV looks like

Date,Description,Amount
12/30/2026,CARD PURCHASE 12/29 HARDWARE STORE,-42.18
12/31/2026,PAYROLL DEPOSIT,2400.00
01/02/2027,CHECK 2210,-650.00

(These are made-up example rows, not real data.)

  • Three columns: Date, Description, Amount.
  • One signed amount. Money in is positive, money out has a minus sign.
  • Dates as MM/DD/YYYY, with the year included.
  • Not a QBO or Web Connect file, and no category or payee column. You categorise the rows in QuickBooks after the upload, like any other bank transactions.

Before you upload

  • Bank feed already on? If QuickBooks already pulls in this account, uploading the same dates again creates duplicates. Upload only months the feed does not cover.
  • Over 1,000 rows? Intuit's instructions currently limit one upload to 1,000 transactions. Split a bigger file into two, keeping the header row on both.

Which Bank of America statements work

  • Personal checking, in the single-table layout and, in beta, the sectioned layout (separate sections for deposits, withdrawals, checks and service fees). In the sectioned layout checks come out as Check #1043.
  • Small business checking, in the single-table layout. The sectioned business layout is not read yet.
  • Not yet: savings and money market, credit cards, and statements that combine several accounts.
  • Text PDFs only. Scans and password-protected files are refused.

Checked against your statement

PaperRows adds up what it found and compares it with the totals printed on the statement. If a check fails, the preview names the check and shows no rows and nothing to buy. We never guess a row to make the numbers work. The checks say nothing about what is already in your QuickBooks company.

Matching totals cannot prove every row is right, so look over the preview before you pay. If a row is wrong, missing or extra, you get a full refund.

What it costs

The preview is free and needs no account. Downloading the CSV files for a statement costs $5. No subscription needed.
