Convert a Wells Fargo statement PDF to CSV

Your Wells Fargo checking statement is a PDF, and you need the transactions as rows you can sort, total or send to whoever does your books. Retyping them takes an evening and one typo throws the month off. PaperRows reads the PDF in your browser and gives you a CSV with one row per transaction.

Wells Fargo support is in beta. No real Wells Fargo statement has been through our full review yet, so we call it beta. We read it with the same checks as every other bank, and if a row is wrong, the refund rule covers it.

Convert your Wells Fargo statement. The preview is free, and the file never leaves your browser.

How to convert it

  1. Download the statement from wellsfargo.com. Sign in on a computer, find Statements and Documents, pick the checking account and the month, and save the PDF with the download icon in the viewer. Do not print it to a new PDF or scan a paper copy. The Wells Fargo help page has the full steps.
  2. Drop the PDF into the converter. PaperRows reads it in your browser. The file is not uploaded.
  3. Look over the free preview. You see every transaction, with the page and line it came from, and the checks against the totals on the statement. If PaperRows cannot read the file, it tells you why before you pay anything.
  4. Pay $5 to download. One payment unlocks that statement and gives you two files: a plain CSV and a QuickBooks Online CSV.

What the CSV looks like

The plain CSV has one row per transaction, in statement order:

page,line,date,description,amount,balance
2,14,2026-12-30,CARD PURCHASE 12/29 HARDWARE STORE,-42.18,1957.82
2,15,2026-12-31,PAYROLL DEPOSIT,2400.00,4357.82
3,3,2027-01-02,CHECK 1187,-650.00,3707.82

(These are made-up example rows, not real data.)

  • Money in is positive, money out is negative.
  • page and line point at the exact spot on the PDF, so you can check any row against the statement.
  • Wells Fargo prints dates like 12/31 with no year. PaperRows takes the year from the statement, so a December to January statement gets the right year on both sides.

Which Wells Fargo statements work

Wells Fargo uses two checking layouts, and PaperRows reads both:

  • The single-table layout, for personal and small business checking: one table of Date, Description, Amount and Balance. The balance column is filled on every row, and each balance is checked against the row before it.
  • The Transaction history layout, in beta, used by many Everyday Checking statements: separate columns for Deposits/Additions and Withdrawals/Subtractions, and an Ending daily balance. The column decides the sign. Wells Fargo prints the balance only on the last transaction of each day, so the balance column is filled only on those rows.

Not yet: savings, credit cards, and statements that combine several accounts. Text PDFs only: scans and password-protected files are refused.

Checked against your statement

PaperRows adds up what it found and compares it with the totals printed on the statement, and shows you where each value came from. Opening balance plus deposits minus withdrawals has to equal the closing balance. If a check fails, the preview names the check and shows no rows and nothing to buy. We never guess a row to make the numbers work.

Matching totals cannot prove every row is right, so look over the preview before you pay. If a row is wrong, missing or extra, you get a full refund.

What it costs

The preview is free and needs no account. Downloading the two CSV files for a statement costs $5. No subscription needed.
